Flood Coverage

Flood is an exposure that many of us have that is not covered by our current homeowners insurance policy. Under a standard ISO homeowners policy that most insurance companies base there policy on, the peril of Flood is excluded. To compensate for this coverage gap, the Federal Government established the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) to provide a source for this coverage at a reasonable price.

We have teamed up with Travelers to be able to offer you this National Flood Insurance Program. All we need to quote this coverage is:

  • The Street Address of the property to be covered.
  • The Flood Zone that the property is located in.
  • Is the building Elevated? A copy of your elevation certificate if you have one is helpful and usually required if the home is in a flood zone "A" or "V".
  • The Replacement Cost of the Building.
  • The value of contents.
  • Does the building have a basement or crawlspace?

With this general information, we can give you an estimate of what Flood coverage will cost for the property.

For Flood coverage on your home please contact a licensed personal lines agent at  804-747-1281. Please note all bound coverage requires a signed application by the owner and a paid down payment. There is a 30 day waiting period before coverage goes in force unless the flood policy is required by a mortgage company for a loan closing.
